Marion Fire Department is a combination fire department consisting of six full time employees, seven part-time employees and about 27 volunteer firefighters. We stand ready to respond quickly to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Equipment includes three pumper/tanker trucks, a reserve pumper, a 102-foot aerial ladder truck, and two four wheel drive brush units. To support fire prevention and safety, the department offers school and civic club programs, fire station tours, and school presentations.
The Fire Department conducts fire inspections of commercial and institutional buildings inside the city in accordance with State law.
The fire department responds to emergencies in the City Limits and the six mile Marion Area Fire District as well as mutual aid to county fire departments.
The fire insurance rating for the City of Marion is a Class 5 and the rating for the Marion Area Fire District is a Class 6.
