Zoning Administrator/Codes Enforcement Officer
The Marion Planning and Development Services Department is
accepting applications for a Zoning Administrator/Codes Enforcement
Officer. The Officer will report to the Planning and Development
Director and perform technical, administrative, and investigative
work in addition to inspections for compliance with various
ordinances including but not limited to zoning, community
appearance, minimum housing, and state building codes. Applicant
must possess knowledge of legal procedures as related to the
administration and enforcement of zoning and building laws and
ordinances in North Carolina and have the ability to understand and
articulate local ordinances, rules, and regulations. Must possess
valid drivers license issued by the State of North Carolina, Must
possess or be able to obtain state certification as a Level I
Building Inspector in building and electrical within two years of
employment and Certified Zoning Official certification from the NC
Institute of Government within three years of employment. Graduation
from college with a degree in urban planning, architecture, or
similar field; and/or equivalent combination of experience and
training to perform essential job functions. Possession of NC Level
I Building Code Certification preferred. Applications may be
